The Mavli-Marwar metre gauge line was opened in 1936 .

Ajmer-Ahmedabad meter gauge opened in 1881 under Rajasthan State Railway and Marwar Junction railway station became the junction on June 24, 1882 on opening of Marwar-Pali section for Jodhpur railway.
The Rajputana-Malwa Railway built the metre gauge line from Marwar Junction to Pali in 1882. Later, this section was extended to Jodhpur and formed the Jodhpur Railway.The line now runs up to Munabao on the India-Pakistan border and has been fully converted to broad gauge

I have travelled by meter gauge trains.l remember clearly when I travelled with Ashram Express from Delhi to Ahemdabad and Ahemdabad to Delhi by meter gauge about thirty years back.on meter gauge also it ran very fast and took almost same duration of time as it is taking on broad gauge today.
