Explained: Make a GUI [MATLAB]

This tutorial will show you how to create a graphical user interface (GUI) in MATLAB. It describes the process from start to finish, so that you can get your own GUI up and running in no time.

This particular GUI example adds or subtracts two numbers together after a button is pressed.

I purposely did not go into a lot of detail to try to keep the video short, although I clearly failed at that. However, I already have some videos planned for the future that go more in depth in some cool features of the MATLAB GUIs.

I must say Joshua Weisberger, your videos have changed my life. Until you came along, I don't know where I was going in life. Like the lonely vessel, adrift on a tumultuous river, with shore a mere dream for tomorrow, I was hopeless. But you were the eye of my storm, the ray of light in the darkness that pulled me back, and helped me to find calmer seas. Thank you for your explanation of how to make a GUI. I don't know where I would be today without it. I would like to conclude this expression of my feelings with a blessing from my home country:
"May the road rise up to meet you,
the wind be always at your back,
the rain fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may the Lord hold you always in the palm of His hand."

I really liked your video!
Question:
Why do you prefer to assignin the values to variables in base rather than place them into the handles structure?
Any particular benefits of one method over the other?
