This is one of the best bar tricks, it never fails to blow everyone’s mind. Especially when you rock the forks after burning the toothpick and it still stays

It also looks like the flame is stopping well short of the metal, so far away from it. But the reason for this is that when you're looking at a flame, the majority of the cumbustion is not currently happening in the center of the flame, most of the activity is in kind of the outer "shell" of the flame. The heated wood is releasing vaporized fuel. As it moves outward, it displaces the atmospheric air, so the place where the fuel and the air are actually able to meet to some short distance away from that center point.

It absorbs the temperature. It lowers the temperature enough in which it is not high enough to burn the fuel, the wood.

I always thought it was because the glass and metal need higher temperatures in order to out a fuel source the fire has no choice but to die...sooo does it absorb or is is simply because the fork and the glass are not combustible in this particular how do we prove this
