💕 Portuguese Lyrics 💕

S'ajuntaran las tres comadres
La çarandilheira
Para ire'l Santu Andrés
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye
Pra fazere una merienda
La çarandilheira
E d'un bárriu todas trés!
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye

Una lheba nuove panes
La çarandilheira
Tocavan cada una a trés
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye
L'uotra lheba trienta uovos
La çarandilheira
Tocavan cada una a diez
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye

E uotra lheba un pelhejito
La çarandilheira
De duos cántarus ou trés
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye
E de alhí a un bocadito
La çarandilheira
Chega'l maridu d'a Inês
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye

Palus n'a una, palus n'a uotra
La çarandilheira
Palus doa en todas trés
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye
Palus n'a una, palus n'a uotra
La çarandilheira
Lheba'l dêmone las trés
Çarandilha-andare çarandilha-ai-ye

💕 English Lyrics 💕

Three old girlfriends got together
The winnower
To go to San Andrés
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there
To have some afternoon tea
The winnower
The three of them are from the same quarter!
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there

One of them brought nine loaves of bread
The winnower
Each one of them got three loaves
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there
Another one brought thirty eggs
The winnower
Each one of them got ten
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there

Another one brought a backpack
The winnower
With two or three pitchers
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there
And after a little while
The winnower
Ines's husband arrived
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there

He beats one of them, he beats on the other as well
The winnower
He beat up the three of them
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there
He beats one of them, he beats on the other as well
The winnower
The three of them go to hell
Winnow-on loaf about-oh-there

That's not Portuguese, that's Mirandese language, from Northern Portugal. Mirandese is close related to Asturian-Leonese dialects of Northwestern Spain.

For the unwary, many languages are spoken on the Iberian Peninsula, Basque, Galician, Portuguese, etc...

The music is yes → Portuguese but the spoken language is Mirandês which is spoken in Spain and in the northeast of Portugal

So... Yes... Surprise, in Portugal we speak 2 languages

This song is not in Portuguese, it's in Mirandese, a dialect of Asturian spoken in Northeast Portugal.

Very nice!! I also recommend "Angola é Nossa", as probably one of the most famous military folk songs, due to the wars (it's kinda imperialist though). Very nice channel, just subscribed!

Great folk song, as always! :)

Out of curiosity, where do you get these wonderful folk songs from? Do you record them yourself or do you find them wherever you can on the Internet?

Cheers!

Yeah I'm half Portuguese and that sounds very different from what I remember hearing. If you want a good song to include, try 'A Rosinha dos limoes'. It's a very nice song.
