PLEASE NOTE: This is not a tutorial, it's rough and ready and just a shared experience of composition. I'm just laying down vibes how I feel them at the time. This would never be the finished article by any means. It's all done on earbuds so please don't complain about mixdown ;) ----

I learnt from working on tracks of my own but it was the teaching that really improved things for me. When I started teaching I had to work things out properly and my ability and knowledge grew almost exponentially.

The beat I use to turn into a couple of open hats at the beginning is from a Joey Youngman sample pack.. The rest (ie most of the beats) are programmed using one shot samples.

Well the rhodes chords could potentially be made using electric and the bass with analog but neither would have the same atmosphere.. this is the thing about using samples.. they have a texture and a vibe all of their own.. to try and replicate them would take ages but i'll definitely create some sounds from scratch on future sessions.

just a lil btw, when you program drums, and want to quantize all the notes just from one sample, instead of allways draging the mouse over the notes (and sometimes even having to zoom out, ) to select all notes, one click on the actual note (wich contains the sample you want to quantise) on the keyboard bellow the headphones icone, will sellect all notes aswell!
really liked this video!! looking foward for the next ones!

I haven't bought any for ages actually.. all of those you see have been around for a while. The maschine samples are relatively new additions
