I was born in 1945. This film is near and dear to my heart. It's the best version. It has the feeling and soul of the old Hollywood. Sat in many a darkened theatre and watched the best movies ever made on the big screen. It was magical. I lived across the street from the cinema. Would sometimes spend the entire day watching a film over and over. My mother would sometimes have to drag me out.

Still the best of the bunch. Janet Gaynor's career at Fox was built on roles like this. She gets excellent support from Fredric March, Adolphe Menjou, Andy Devine and especially May Robson. With Wild Bill Wellman directing and writing and Max Steiner's music, it is one of the best tear-jerkers. The movie's success helped pave the way for "Gone With the Wind" two years later.

Still the best version. A lot of the scenarios in this film still ring true in 2023. The ocean scene is tragic and Fredric March is criminally underrated as an actor.

Frederick March (R.I.P.)was a beautiful man, and a wonderful actor.

'Gramdma' was 'Aunt Polly' in the 1938 film Tom Sawyer. That movie was made by Selznick Studios as well. The background score is so similar in both these films. I love both these films and never tire of watching them. Thank you for sharing this movie. 🙏🏻

Excellent movie, thank you for sharing it with us! I was captivated, don't allow the age of the movie to keep you from watching this 5-star movie. It's in color as well. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 100% and that never happens.

Wonderful portrayal and telling of this sadly too-real story.
Both Actors were brilliant; I especially love her personality!
