Great tips I’m about to paint my cedar shingle house. What color stain is this you’re using I love it.

I have an all-cedar shingle home in the coastal PacNW where as you know, it rains incessantly. I'd like to stain the shingles (with a transparent color) and I'm wondering if this would, a). extend the life of the shingles, and b). act as a first line defense barrier to termite/carpenter bee intrusion? Not to mention that I LOVE the look.

Thanks for the tips, now I understand why starting from bottom, the trips will dry slower on the painted surface that gives you time to fix them.
