I just turned 50, and I'm honestly feeling overwhelmed about retirement. I have a little over £300k saved, but with inflation and the rising cost of living, I’m starting to wonder what kind of retirement I can actually afford. I don’t want to end up outliving my savings.

After doing factory and shift work for 40 years I was glad to finally finish at 57. My body said thank you and I keep my self busy doing what I want when I want and I haven’t been bored once in the 3 years I’ve been retired.
A lot of people said why are you retiring so early ? Well because I can and I want to be able to injoy it while my body can still handle it. Life’s to short.

My father retired at 63. He fished, hunted, visited family and friends. He passed quietly in his sleep at the age of 89!

My dad retired at 55 and indulged himself in hobbies and sports. He had a great time and enjoyed every minute of his retirement. He’s 84 now.

I’ve been retired 10 months. Now 69 general good health. Best season of my life. People must plan for retirement! I did financially, emotionally and physically. Have 4 buckets of income. Built home 14 years ago and paid off in 8. No way I could be happier. Balance of time with DIY. Family, Sports, my 2 amazing pups and relaxing on MY SCHEDULE ❤

I couldn't wait to retire. I now "love" being free and relax. 👍

Retired at 54, and enjoying each and every day. My purpose every day is to have fun and I succeed probably 95% of the time. Attitude is everything. Don’t let anyone else tell you that you need X amount of $. Only you can know what you need. Get out there and freaking enjoy yourselves.

Thank you. Just what I needed to watch. My wife and I are directors of our own business and own a few property, plus other income . I am nearly 52, We have started to save to retire perfectly, and possibly live on rental income, I'd really appreciate you go LIVE and talk about how to earn passive income online and retire comfortably

I've been retired a little over 14 years and I love going to bed at night and getting up in the morning and not having to be somewhere at someone else's bidding. I cannot imagine not having anything to do or look forward to. Even the simplest things can bring joy if we just realize how to appreciate every second we live.

Utter bollocks it's not employment that gives you purpose unless you have nothing else going on . Retired at 56 and time still isn't sufficient to do the thngs I love. Don't be fooled into working your life away.

I was a skilled blue collar worker, that meant I got stress and boredom in equal amounts, spent my days covered in grease and depending on the time of year either spent 12 hours freezing or bathed in sweat.
If I'd had to do that until my dying day I'd have topped myself decades ago.

My dad is still kicking after retiring over 20 years ago. He found his purpose in helping his family, the people who attend his church, and his neighbors. Grows a big vegetable garden, fruit trees, etc. Loves to sing, always says things like: "if you have to do it, you might as well have fun doing it". 😂❤

Not if you dispise your job. Most people dont have the luxury of loving their job & having a passion about their job.

1975, my hiring manager told me to start planning my retirement that first day of work. Took him seriously. Blue collar job. Raised three daughters. Lived within our means. Every time I got a raise, I put 1/2 towards my retirement. Lived on the remaining. We had a nice home, nice family cars, nice family vacations. Put the three through college. Retired in 2019. New 3500sq ft home on acreage. Two new vehicles. No debt whatsoever. My retirement account sits at 3 million. A lot of discipline and common sense. You have to start the day you enter the workforce. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s and don’t think you always have to have the latest and greatest. Comfortable in retirement with a woodworking hobby and 8 grandkids.

I worked 12 hour shifts days and nights for 40 years. At 68 I still can't have a natural sleep pattern and my arthritic body is exhausted, nothing to do with a lack of purpose. It's down to burn out.

I lost a very good friend two years ago.
He was a WW2 Navy veteran.
He worked fulltime until he was 85 and part time
until he was 89.
He lived 9 more years working around his home and his small farm.
He was active to the end having mown his grass one week before his passing.
His advice to us his younger friends " always have a reason to get up early and go out and do something.
Keep moving, keep doing.
If you dont the day will come when you wont be able to move.
Death will follow.
