Learn to Code in 25 minutes - Command Line Tutorial | Crash Course

Hey! In this video, I'll be teaching you how to use the Command Line (also called the terminal or command prompt).

The command line is a text-based application for viewing, handling, and manipulating files on your computer. Learning the command line is crucial to being a software developer, as a lot of work you do will involve using it.

Learning to use the command line will help speed up your development when writing code and building software. It'll also help you move around quicker on your computer. Using the command line, you can perform almost all the same tasks that can be done with a GUI, but quicker and can be easier to automate and do remotely

I didn’t realize how insanely important the command line is. When I was first learning to code I tried to skip this step cuz “I didn’t mind doing everything manually” but damn...knowing this seriously slashes development time😅

I been around these things for 20yrs. Now, I'm learning the basics about IT and I love it. I'm now going to do IT instead. I also signed up on coursera offered by Google. What about when using Python? Is the command line important? I just started learning coding and Python. How would I enter text into index.html? which text editor would i use? (update: looks like i was able to in PyCharm)

Great coverage. Need to bump up the size of your terminal. Just a suggestion. As a developer, the command line is essential.

Great tutorial! One thing to be mindful of is that a file that starts with a dot, for example, .git, will not be listed if you just use ls as it is hidden. To see all files type ls -a.
