They can even use a single USB (type C) cable!

There are many small monitors for about € 40 on Amazon, if elgato puts their name on it it will cost € 120 for no reason.

I do something like this too! You can also mention that you are using the spare height to fit a camera tightly into the corner between the two monitors! I think Asus should make a parasitic monitor mounting system so you can just clip other accessory monitors all over the sides of their monitors.

I'm watching this late, however this is only useful if it would become touch screen. Imagine having music on the screen and just touch to pause, or useful for drawing, scrolling ect with your finger without tabbing out your game with your mouse.

I'm11 surprised there isn't more mini monitors on the market. Ive been wanting to get a mini display to use as a second monitor because I cant stand having 2 monitors with my ultrawide.

I use a small Asus monitor, you have just 1 cable, but mine is bigger (13-15 inch screen), but you can still put it under your main monitor, it's so useful

Yo, I like this idea. I use the Elgatoprompter, but I don't like what it does to my camera sometimes depending on what I put on the screen. Haven't thought about just using the screen part without the mirror. I also have a few other little monitors, but this would be pretty perfect to easily mount super close to my camera so that it still looks like I'm looking into chat's soul when talking to them😂

I've been wanting a small, 8-ish inch diagonal screen that runs solely over USB to put my system stats on. I am currently using a Kindle Fire, but that thing is laggy AF.

I'm in the process of figuring out how to convert an old Alcatel android tablet to be a dedicated monitor for stream chat, or touch pad for music production. It would be infinitely better and easier if some big brand would just make the same product for under $50

For external monitors which use USB-A they need a display link driver, on MacOS that’s an extra thing you have to download, on Linux it’s even worse.

Should also impact performance more and is not always stable. It also adds about $100 to the cost of the product because of the licensing/hardware they need to buy from DisplayLink.

I sent a similar suggestion to Elgato a few years ago. I bought a 13” monitor for chat I put in portrait mode and told them they should simplify the concept. It’s very handy

There are so many manufacturers that make them in a wide range of sizes. No mounts, but you can get a phone or tablet clip to add a screw hole. Or there are ones with vesa mounts if you go big enough.

IMO, it’s not something Elgato should get into, unless they make it a product with features. What I mean is, design an interface to populate the display with useful features like chat and moderation tools, a touchscreen stream deck, a wave interface, that kind of thing. Something Elgato-ish that is more than just another screen.

There's a lot of cheap display like that. No need for a new Elgato 200$ mini display. And fun fact : I got my solution for free from an old ipad mini 1st generation (2013) and an app call splashtop. And know what ? It's wireless and I can also use the touch display as a mouse :D

~14"/15" usb monitor with Displaylink chip (asus, msi, viewsonic...) like the elgato display, is the same. Or the same size of monitors/displays with "usbc alt mode" + onboard gpu like igpu...
