(picking 250) 5 wheel combination padlock inspected and decoded [ false gates ]

As it has 5 wheels it attracted me and I bought one of these. It has a hardened shackle that is locked with a ball bearing on one side. Although the lock has 5 wheels and one false gate on every wheel I cannot recommend it to secure anything valuable with it.

I bought one of these locks for the gym, and I bricked it while setting the code, I used this method in reverse(it was unlocked and i didn't know the code) so while applying tension to the reset switch I picked number by number. THANK YOU!

It worked! I had a little trouble solving the false gate, so it took me longer, but it still worked.

I love watching your combo videos I've watched every one and I learn so much. A friend of mine let me play with one he didn't give me the combo. It had numbers and letters I decoded it and gave it back to him with a new combo (O2EZ) and then told him to pick it. Lol

This method isn't working for me at all. I wonder if it makes any difference that my lock uses 5 letters instead of 5 numbers?

Bottom line, I am applying tension and either every wheel "bounds" because I'm applying too much tension, or none of them do because I'm applying too little.

When I think I have a wheel to work on, it "clicks" into the gate almost every other letter, so there's no real way I can distinguish those from the REAL gate.

Can anyone please help?

thanks! - with your help I have decoded my lock that I forgot the code to. It was bugging me that I couldn't remember, so not just an issue of buying replacement, more about figuring out what number I had set it to and why. I actually tried all 10000 combos first without success but when I tried your method I realised (a) you really need to apply a lot of force with your method - more than you can just apply with your hands, and (b) even when trying brute force I wasn't applying enough "pull" on each number to open it even when I had the correct code - i.e. a gentle tug isn't enough to open it even when it's on the correct code . After I about a week of on and off sessions going through all 10000 combos I set up a bench anchor to pull against and had the code in less than 5 minutes!

Is there a method to find the correct combination of one of these that is opened?
I have one that my ex changed the combination by mistake while it was opened at the gym - i don't know how but she already did that with half a dozen locks, but this is the one i couldn't recover yet.

I have the exact same lock I've waycheethis videos 100s of times I still can't do it.

I can feel the ones that feel resistance but then when I turn it it has the same resistance for 3 or so numbers. Its such an awkward lock to hold as well
