The Samsung Neo G9 is a great monitor, but it has some issues, and for many people I think it could be the wrong choice. I'm one of those buyers, and because of the reasons outlined in this video I decided to return it.

I had no idea that some people hate a matte finish. I'm the exact opposite - I can't stand a glossy finish on a monitor. That's literally a deal breaker for me. Monitor glare is a problem that as far as I can tell is universally recognized, and glossy finishes enhance a monitor's ability to reflect glare at the viewer, especially in the case of a curved monitor. It just makes no sense to me that anyone would want a glossy monitor over a matte one, but I guess people have strong personal preferences in the other direction as well.

Bro, I think the reason for the matte finish is just plain old physics. You see, the curved screen basically acts like a concave mirror and that means that you'll get a TON of reflection because that concave surface catches a lot more light than a flat-screen panel.

Really hoping we'll see 38" to 45", curved, 21:9, 4K, QD-OLEDs (that's a mouthful) released in 2024.

I'm loving my G9 and can't wait for 57 to become available in my country (still isn't!) ..i can't use glossy monitors though since i'm not living in a dark cave.

would prefer matte finish over glossy any day of the week, glossy just creates a lot of annoying reflections.

As a non gamer, I have tons of windows open at a time and find this monitor very good for productivity. ppi and brightness is decent (better than the 49” neo), and real estate is excellent. I’d still like more but no such monitor exists yet.

Matte is fine for me, I'm thinking of getting one, perhaps if the price goes down just a bit more.

Someone should donate another one of these monitors to this guy so he can make videos for us showing how to manually remove the matte from the monitor so it can be glossy, ahhh that would be perfect

With 4K 240hz monitors coming in Q1 of 2024, any potential buyer should be waiting and evaluate their options.

A matte finish? I cannot see a huge difference myself. But the quality control issues and the scanlines I can see. Also, the autoswitching function does not work, it drives me NUTS!!!! ABSOLUTELY NUTS!! (that is a nitpick though obviously).

jesus, you should really change the name of the channel in "not a matte fan". Believe it or not, there are many of us who like the matte finish.

My 32" Odyssey G7 had the scanlines on all 4 corners and I hated it. Sold it to a friend and he didn't seem to mind. Just depends on the person.
