Is the AI revolution a good thing or a bad thing?

I understand the the Logical thinking going on here. But, oftentimes, what something should do is very different from what it actually does.
Information Era, for instance. Gave people access to loads of info. Literally, Library of Alexandria levels. This now causes the trend to rely on having something to supply this info, instead of remember it. We have seen an overload of Information given to an individual now. Almost to the point where Misinformation outweighs correct information. We have to come to expect the first answer from Google to be the Truth and resigned from researching further.
As for AI, my only worry, is that it will become the same thing. The line "...will be able to make people do things they couldn't before in intelligent ways." is a very optimistic outlook on it. I think we won't know it's true impact for another 3-5 years.
