@ 5:07, I felt that I had to mention the BIG Difference between Spanish (and Mexican) Bullfighting and the Portuguese Bullfighting. In the first two, the bull is already wounded to the point that even if the Matador doesn't kill him, he (the bull) will bleed out soon after the Bullfight!

For anyone wondering, in the original book, Ferdinand's scene in the ring was much funnier. Basically all he did was sit down and smell the flowers while the bull-fighter was just trying to get him to fight him until everyone gave up and towed back home.

Regardless of the fact that it's a children's movie, it's so deep.
Ferdinand knew that he would probably die if he don't hurting the matador, but it was more important for him to remain innocent than to live. He realized this when he saw the flower. And when he smelled it, he think to smell flowers for the last time
