“It ain’t no big deal.” That my sir is how I have had just enough confidence to get this far in my life. Not far but I’m still mostly vertical. Thanks for the great content man, we appreciate your knowledge.

I just recently purchased a boat with a 20 HP Johnson Tracker. Runs good at idle and low speed has no top end power. Will not push my 16' aluminum boat over 10 mph and will not plain. I just pulled carburetor apart not knowing much about how outboard carbs work. Thing looked perfectly clean inside with one exception the high speed orifice was mostly plugged. At the time I didn't know what it was and what role it played in carbs function of carburetor. Was just crossing my fingers that it solved my problem when i take boat out in a couple weeks. After watching this video my confidence has grown that this will solve my issue. Thanks for your videos I have learned a bunch in a short time. Keep up the good work.

Have a 75 Evinrude that wouldn’t run in idle. Finally realized that the idle cycle ran from bottom of carb to top. It was plugged up at the main body to the point of complete obscurity. Once I found the hole in top, cleaned it up, and put it back together, it worked like a champ. Today I finished replacing the pull cord mechanism, and oiled it. This old engine ran beautifully! Love it

This is the best vid I have seen for carb clean. Very very informative

OMG!!! I wish I found you before the 6 days of trials and tribulations I went though with my carb. I can and did rebuild my carb with my eyes shut after so many times taking it apart and putting it back together only to pull up a diagram and see that orifice plug. Undid that thing and it was beyond chemical cleaning. It needed a needle to clean it. Engine runs like a champ now. Thank you sir!

This is a huge help. My '76 25hp has had some issues this year and it's making me think about letting it go and buying something new next spring, but this video gives me a lot of confidence to try to get it running right. Thanks for showing so much detail.

Thanks a mill for your videos. I am new to the boating/outboard world and have a '78 Johnson 25hp that will start but won't stay running. I have isolated it to a fuel flow issue somewhere after the fuel pump. Most likely a clogged internal line or needle orifice. Your videos have given me the basic knowledge and confidence to pull the carb off and take care of business. Just started pulling it apart this morning after work. It is all gummy all over. Hope to have it fixed in the next couple days. Looking forward to fixing it and having this issue behind me.

Awesome video. I was hesitant about pulling my carb. Not anymore. I have an old 1970 something 35 Johnson that won't idle & is a bear to start. Going to do this & cross my fingers.
Thank you for the video.

I cleaned mine AGAIN last night and learned about how there are a type A & type B typical and non typical..Those air bleed jets are not the same for top and bottom carburetors .Top takes a 33 and lower a 35 so dont get em swapped by accident.

Got a 70s 25hp Johnson that doesn't want to idle. Thanks for taking time to go into detail the operation of this carburetor, I would have never know to look for those little holes in the slow speed circuit.

And old mechanic taught me to clean these idle circuits with an old guitar string. E string I believe it was. Thin enough to fit and rigid enough to push through. Take that knowledge to the bank. Thanks for the fun video my man, love the commentary!

I have always tried to stay away from carbs, but these are more simple than I thought. The problem I have been fighting this last month was red gasket maker inside the plastic fuel manifold that the fuel comes out of to go to the primer solenoid and the 2 carbs on my 93 Johnson 40hp. Took me longer than it should have to figure that one out. Finally ripped every hose apart and make sure I had flow from 1 spot to the next and found that obstruction. Went through 4 fuel pumps, 2 primer bulbs and gas lines, plus several spark plugs, and cleaned the carbs over and over again, cleaned the gaskets between carbs and intake, checked reed valves, compression, spark gap checker. Was grasping at straws. Finally ready to get on the water without limping along and finally get up on plane. Thank you for your videos. They help a lot and it always is entertaining to hear Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong talk outboards 😉. Have a great week!

Thanks. Have same carb, never even saw those 2 holes in the barrel. Correct me if I’m wrong but these carbs are fixed and have no adjustments.

What solution are you soaking these carbs in? Thanks.

Dont forget to test float the float in a cup of gasoline. Mine was sinking and causing the motor to stall when moving out of idle. Replaced the float and now it runs great. Easy to work on these engines :)

Went fishing last Friday and was great. Caught and released some nice trout🐟. Going again this Friday depending on the weather💨 to another lake. Took my dog Buddy🐕 with and loves watching me catch fish🐟. Looking forward to see some more bass🐟 caught down there👍
