Fun fact: as someone studying electrical, ground wire is ment to protect your circuits from electric shocks like lightning, once it is shocked the electric travels through the ground wire and neutralizes in the ground to protect your panel. What she was installing was called a grounding rod as well as a grounding clamp to hold the wire in place, used to mount the ground wire to the ground, the problem with this is unless her husband is electro and constantly gets shocked by lightning, this method does not do anything but make you look stupid and make the home look dumb, and even if lightning strikes it wouldn't protect him sense you know it travels through him before it hits the rod and....
