I'm an interpreter for the Deaf in post-secondary education. Although I freelanced at many universities throughout Southern California my faculty position was at large community college in a poor, mostly minority area. Nearly every student had to take a counseling course, designed to assist them in figuring out their "direction", their strengths & weaknesses. The prof's LOVED Les BROWN & showed at LEAST THREE of VIDEOS DURING the semester! According to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) public institutions could NOT show films that weren't closed captioned (with the script written below... the reason they call it "closed" is bc it's on a lot of things we're not aware of, but if you turn "on" the "cc" button it will appear). Anyway, semester after semester NO ONE bothered to turn in Les Brown's videos for captioning & the prof's kept right on showing them & I went right on interpreting them bc THEY WERE THE MOST FUN VIDEOS TO INTERPRET, EVER! So, THANK~YOU, Mr. Brown! You've inspired MANY YOUNG PPL TO DO BETTER!
