It was worth it for the content, but that's about it

Only smart homes I seen work....
1 was Fully wired, and had 2 consoles.(mess to figure out)
2nd, was made using Low freq Units that were DUMB, nothing special about them, they only did 1-2 things. And you Could use a Wireless remote with it. But everything has a wire for power.

But it was an awesome series..got many ideas and implemented some of them and I am really grateful

Even for me, I have a couple HomePods and smart switches but really I just forget they exist half the time.

For me i want to be able to turn off ligthts from anywhere in the house cuzz my husband leaves them on all the time and i want my windows to open and close automatically based on tempature and conditions outside. So if its warm but starts raining it will close them so i dont gwt rain inside

He went too smart. Lights and Thermostats is all you need.

As smart as he made it, no.

But there are some serious advantages to making some things smart in your home. More specifically:

Lights and switches
Some speakers

Anything else helps to be connected, but doesnt need to or benefit from being connected to a smart home assistant.

I think the only thing id want to smart in my home is my cameras, blonds like he has, and some sound system and maybe presence detection for lights

Very much depends who you are. But the state of things is kinda even worse for disabled people, who really need it.

If he did it properly, yes. But he wanted to expeirment and take a jank route...so it was kind of worth it inn video content $$$.

Honestly smart lights or switches are the most great thing. Everything is else is optional but possible smart blinds would be great so you dont have to open or close 15 of them everyday 😅

Smart home absolutely not. Having smart connected appliances is mostly a gimmick. I love the whole, remote desktop thing, but the freaking icron docks are a grand each. That alone isn't worth it to me.

The DIY solution of smart home is absurd. Or you use a simple out of the box solution or you just don’t.
