1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe

My WWII Army War Hero Uncle Frtiz owned this car during the years after the war when he ran into steering and rear end springs and alignment problems. Rather than fixing it, he just parked it in the woods next to his North Dakota farm. My cousin Gary drug it out of the woods four years ago and has almost finished restoring it.

Oh, does this bring back good memories . My oldest brother had one of these, same color, etc . He let me drive it, and I thought I was a King at 14 years old . I was hoping I would get it, but I didn't and I have always wanted one since 1956 . Don't change anything please . Be safe .

Well, the old standard Chevy with the classic straight Six. You couldn't beat this car for basic transportation.
If everything was reasonably in spec, it just ran and ran. Millions of people had them as an important part of their life....

It´s an excellent car, he changed 6 --8 volt generator by an 12-16 Volt alternator. But as I saw it was the only modification that he did. And that change was really necessary!
I really like it as it is !

My Dad helped me buy one just like this in 1971, I was in jr. high. I changed out the rear end to a open drive shaft 57 Chevy and I started the setup to use a 55 Chevy front saddle motor mount for a 55 Chevy. Then a friend bought the rolling project for 5 times my investment. Big deal in 1972.

216 Ci engine. Ma learned how to drive on one with std. shift. Later, I drove it whenever Mom and Pop left town for the weekend. It has a unique ignition switch, LOCK-OFF-ON-START. I would casually remove Mom's keys from her purse and go out to the garage and put the ignition switch to the off position and put her keys back. Most Chevy owners know this.

Bought a 50 chevy deluxe convertible in 65 for $100. Had one dent size of your little fingernail on chrome strip passenger side front fender. Black and white stripe interior 3 on the floor white top. I was 18. Didn't need a key. You could turn switch with your fingers and push start button. Bingo! Away it went. Every time.

Que máquina, mí tío tenía uno tal cual... Con sistema cucharita irrigadora de aceite y muy cómodo buen sistema de amortiguación...
