Come along as I discuss my thoughts and concerns on purchasing a tour pack for my 2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide. I'll show you my current set-up with a luggage rack and the Nelson Rigg NR-300 Route 1 Traveler Tour Trunk Bag that I've been using for several years. I'll share comparison information on the chopped tour pack in Vivid Black/Chrome from 4 different companies: Harley-Davidson, Advanblack, HOG WORKZ, and TCMT. I'm actively trying to make a buying decision and I'm asking for feedback... #harleydavidsonroadglide #advanblack #hogworkz #tcmt

I went with the TCMT King Tour Pack for my ‘21 Street Glide.

Tried a King tour pak last riding season for the first time on a week long ride and it was very convenient. I used a back pack inside the tour pak which made hotel stops really easy. No straps or concerns about weather. King tour pak easily and securely fit my helmet and boots when we stopped for the night. Going to be hard to give up the tour pak now.

Hey sir,
The Nelson bag is fantastic. I have it for my bike. Plus, I have the clamp rack that comes with the bag from Nelson. You can adjust it to whatever bike rack you have. Also, you can lock it down so no one can steal it. I absolutely love mine. I think the tour pack is too expensive for my budget. My complete set up was under $300 bucks. So…… Other bikers seem mine and liked my set up. Lastly, plenty of room in the Nelson. Hope this helps. Ride safe and be safe.
Happy New Year,
Ben

Why not have the best of both words? Get an Advanblack chopped with the rack ? They have a new style tour pack support with wider base, and splurge for the newer liner with pockets, also the Reaper light bar. Voice of experience, wife has the chopped, with liner and light bar. I fabricated the mount myself because at the time there was no mount available. Her tour pack mount allows her to sit perfect in the seat with the pad for comfort and places the weight more over the axle as well, Safe Travels Todd 😎

I don’t have a touring chassis but I did buy some parts through Advan Black. If I had hindsight then that I do now, I would’ve saved my money and ordered through Amazon. I also tried returning unused parts to Advan Black and it cost me a pretty penny to ship them plus a 20% restocking fee. Amazon takes returns no questions asked and it’s free drop off to your local drop off point.

Pros: I’ll say I like the paint quality of the
part that I got. Fairing was well packaged and flawless on arrival.

Cons: I think I paid double in the long run. Customer service does not seem to be a strong suit.

The RickRak system that cyclefanatix got seems like the way to go

I currently have the tmct chopped in vivid black from Amazon with the baseplate inside and have no issues with quality or color matching. Only complaint I have is the lock. You need to leave key in to unlock it and remain having it in until you close the lid, once you lock it again you can remove your key. I don’t know about you but I never have my saddlebags locked unless I’m leaving the bike parked outside. I’m sure it’s as easy as swapping out the lock but I’m just pointing out my only complaint.

I like the tour pack with a bag for clothes that fits nicely in the tour pack.

I like tour packs for a few reasons. 1 it doesn't look temporary. 2 the ability to increase lighting. 3 security and weather proof.

My two cents is that for long trips a bag on a sissy bar or luggage rack is always better. It’s easy to bring inside at a hotel or house or wherever you are staying. And you can ALWAYS fit more in a bag than a tour pack. Where the tour pack shines is for commuting and daily riding. I wouldn’t buy a trunk if I can’t fit a full face helmet in it.

Personally on my road glide I only use a bag on a rack.

I prefer to have side panniers and a rack for a waterproof bag like an SW Motech. The bag helps for items that are just shaped oddly. I do a lot of Moto camping. If you’re just looking for storage for a helmet, a hard pack may be a better option. It depends on your use case scenario.

I took my tour pack off and replaced it with a sissy bar and travel bag. Extreme weight savings. Tour pack: 58#. Sissy bar and travel bag: 18#, 40# saving.

I had a HOGWORKZ tour pack, i didn't like it, the lanyard for the lid broke 2 times, the hinges were trashy and the liner didn't fit well. And it was mounted correctly. There is a difference in quality between it and the HD TP. It depends on where you ride, though. I ride in the mountains and twisties and tight roads. It effects the handling. I have the Rickrack ordered. I only like it on when i tour. If you check out the Million Dollar Bogan, that guy uses it and wrecks, trashes it and its solid as a rock. Im sure hes sponsored, but seeing is believing.

I think the bag you show is more than good enough and how much do need on your tours of gear and such? the less the better it is my two cent's!

The HOGWORKZ tour pack lid broke after the one-year warranty, I called to see if they could help me, and no luck. I even wanted to buy the lid, but they told me no. So, I went back to a Dry Duffle Bag 25L
