The Doors - Back Door Man (From "Live In Europe 1968" DVD)

The Doors were founded by Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison in Los Angeles in 1965. They released their eponymous debut album, which contained their hit single Light My Fire, in 1967 and went on to be one of the most controversial and influential rock acts of the sixties. Jim Morrison's early death in Paris in 1971 only served to fuel their legend and both he and the band have continued to enjoy iconic status for more than thirty years.

Was there ever a rock and roll front man who could growl and snarl as good as Morrison? Nobody in rock history had more stage presence!! When I was in college I met a few folks who had the good fortune of seeing the Doors in their heyday and each one of them said that watching Morrison on film really doesn't capture the experience of seeing him in person!! They all said he was mesmerizing and that you couldn't take your eyes off him!!

One thing I've always admired about The Doors is their uncanny ability to preform in such an impromptu fashion. John, Ray, and Robbie keep the rhythm with Jim as he dives into unexpected territory flawlessly every time. They were all really important aspects of the band, and although Jim is clearly the center focus, it wouldn't be the same without the rest of them.

Been lifting 400 miles to see his grave witjh 2 friends. We slept on the street. and it counts 2 days befote we arrived.
We were there, we drunk a little wine, smoked a joint, put some "The Doors Music" on. Give him te end of the joint, the bottle of wine. People were photograping us. and signed are bord for the auto-stop.
Everybody likes it when we put music of the doors.

It was magnificent. Yesterday we came home.
