When I was 8 racing BMX's in 1991 a pro rider told me that I needed to move with the course and stop stiffening up. I figured this out about in 2010 when mountain biking, never too late 😂

I hope some of these tips (learned the hard way) can help you and others make gains with your riding!

I'm 44 years old and I'm doing MTB for the last 3 years. Thanks for the video as I can relate to most of it and hopefully I will manage to go through the journey even though I'm not 22 years old :=), I'm just starting to feel how much important is to make sure that the front wheel is always weighted as I had very big crash end of last season. Now I'm recovered just enough and are training to do the Megavalanche this year. I might be well over my head we will see :)

I purchased my mtb about 8 months ago in saying this I saw a few of your posts and encouraged me to ride, now I’m certainly not as young as Christine. With that said I would ride in my neighborhood to get use to or comfortable. Now I ride in palu dura Canyon in Texas
You’ve inspired me even at my age Thank You

Great tips. Feel I'm on a similar path in my 5th season. I would add praticing a specific skill as a dedicated ride. And not just think about something occasionnally or doing a drill as a warm up or cool down. This for my as lead to great reasults

Great vid! Couldn't agree more with your point about body position. For the steeps, I would also add learning to continually push the front tire to the next spot where you want usually for optimal control and traction.

Great tips. I just started riding after Covid and I've definitely had my share of hard lessons lol. Fortunately had a dirt bike and BMX background from my early years, but a lot of it didn't translate. I've been on flats since the beginning and would like to try clipless finally. Good to hear how it helped you. (Fellow Slidellian btw!)

Great advice and tips! It was implicit at the end of the video, but you didn't mention it. First rule: Have fun.
And a worthy mention. Don't bite more than you can chew. If you don't have the skills for something, first build that skill step by step by pushing your limit a little each time. Unless of course, there's a hospital 10 minutes from where you're riding.

Loved the part about riding with people. I have a buddy I love to ride with and he definitely makes me a better rider in so many ways <3

You are a very articulate and precise presenter Christina. thank you! Any chance you could do a deep dive into each one of the strategies you mentioned? I would love to see a video that goes granular on foot and body position, and all the other details you mentioned. But why, there are lots of videos that do that? Well Christina, i think you are also one of the best communicators in the world of youtube mountain biking. Not only do you have the riding skills but youre super articulate and detail oriented, and that makes the content easier to digest. Thanks for all your effort helping us get better.
