I packed the green invincible card in a pocket tin today, couldn’t believe it!

After seeing your box break video (AND Football Collecting Couple's), I think I can really give an assessment of this year's set.

I first started collecting football cards in 2017 from my first trip to Manchester (I live in the US; making my third trip to Manchester in just under 4 weeks), started with Match Attax. From then on, I have collected either Match Attax, or XL once they did Premier League, or both. From seeing the kick off multipacks, I was on the fence for this year, but I wanted to see the full box break. After seeing that, this year will be the first time that I'm likely not going to collect either one (Match Attax just got too freaking expensive to even think of trying to finish the numbered checklist. Didn't buy any last year).

First off, the raised price to 1.80 per pack. Yeah, I get it, prices have gone up on everything. However, nearly double the price for an additional 2 cards per pack? Yikes. Then, if you're buying a full box, you're paying 20 gbp more for 20 fewer cards. Just buying a pack or two, you may not feel that increased price as much, but when go to buy a lot of packs (or a full box), that does add up. That adds up to not good there. That extra 20 gbp could've been the starter pack and one of the tins. Next, (GBW, your box REALLY showed this) is all the repeats. Now, yes, you're bound to get some repeats, it's just the nature of the beast. However, Panini is really coming up short when it comes to the randomization, and GBW your packs proved it big time.

Now, on to the cards themselves. I dunno what it is, but that white border on the base cards just loses me. I can't put my finger on why, but for some reason, the white border just doesn't do it for me. It's kinda like they went back to the 19-20 collection.

The Stadium cards are a nice addition to the collection (now THERE the white border works well. Go figure!). I haven't seen a bad Stadium card yet!

The inserts are where Panini has always kicked butt, and this year is no exception. I'm a United fan and normally despise anything from City, but that Rush card of KDB is an absolute banger! The GB's/Invincible especially look really sharp once again. Panini doesn't need to reinvent the wheel there, and it's clear they're not gonna either (and that's a good thing!)

The crystal crests ARE FREAKING AMAZING. I may try to get the United one just because it no double looks awesome. The downside with those, however, is that there are no more LImited Editions in the regular packs (looks like they're saving those for the tins, starter packs, all the "other products" in the range). Kind of a bummer, but the crests are a nice change.

Speaking of Limited Editions, I've seen them from the kickoff they're not bad. They're fun to try and get, but it's never been the end of the world if I didn't get them all.

Ultimately, will I buy XL this year? No. The financials just aren't there for me; it feels like too much of a price hike for too little in return. Then add on the amount of repeats, and it's just a no from me. Even more so due to being in the US. It's tricky collecting XL and/or Match Attax in the States!

But then again, I said the same thing about Match Attax back in 2021-22. I wasn't going to buy Match Attax that year and only do Adrenalyn XL. I was also going on my 2nd trip to Manchester in December of 2021. By the time I was eating lunch ON MY FIRST DAY THERE, I had a shopping bag with a starter pack, all 4 mega tins, all 4 mini tins, the countdown calendar, and a slew of loose packs. I wound up 100%'ing the numbered checklist (except Chrome previews and Shields which weren't part of the 1-however many cards). So, if in about a month's time you see an edit to this comment, you know what happened! Hehe

I have a kolo toure signed man of the Match card with the authentic hologram from 2009. There were only 1000 made so I’m sure a lot less exist now. Do you have any idea what it might be worth if anything? It’s so rare I can’t find any sales data
