I've been fortunate enough to have extended hands on time with four of the major phone operating systems recently, Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7 (WP7) and webOS. Each OS has pros and cons so today I go over several of them.

(my opinion) i think windows phone 7 & ios are similar to each other just by how professional they are, and i think android & webos are similar to each other because of how fun and unique it is .

Just made the switch to WP7 from iPhone 4, and very glad I did. I really like the live tiles, and having a lot more social integration from the "People" tile. Being able to post to fb walls from the address book is pretty cool.

I also like being able to link the same contact from multiple sources (SIM card, Windows Live, Google, etc) to cut out duplicate address book entries.

Hopefully Mango will have enough horsepower under the hood for a killer mktg campaign to get the WP7 some traction.

Android is probably the most diverse, and if you like open source usability, being able to customize your phone, it's probably the way to go. iOS and WP7 suffer from the corporations shutting down most of the customizability you would expect in a phone that YOU own. I'll probably be getting the HTC Inspire when it comes out cause of the hardware, and HTC sense is probably the best brand software for android.

I think Android is the best because you can choose what everything looks like - the keyboard, the home screen, the volume rocker and everything else.

@INTEGRATE08 Totally agree, I moved from symbian 60, I was fan of maemo and thought meego had potentially, however i ended up getting WP7 in may because it is such an easy OS to develop for.

It is such a unique OS

@ThePwNsTaRr But android phones are off the block always slow compared to iOS, if you compare similar spec devices. I had a Nexus S before I upgraded to iPhone 4 and difference is vast in terms of the the UI. Everything on iOS is smooth, whereas I always found the nexus to be a little choppier with animations.

I haven't found the jailbreak to hamper my performance much. If you put dreamboard themes and stuff of course it's gonna slow down. I'll jump to droid once it's UI is as elegant as iOS.

@ThePwNsTaRr Yea, it's really computer based, to the point where it already has 21 Trojan apps on the Android Marketplace.

iOS + Jailbreak = WIN... pwns every other OS.... You get the elegance and consistency of iOS + you get the customization equivalent of Android + The Jailbreaking community is so fukin AWESOME!!!

@Evanforevertill2012 How is WP7 professional? It doesn't seem as though it'd allow for power-use or mesh with a corporate lifestyle at all. It just seems as though it's made for grandmas who want a smartphone they can understand. That's definitely my own opinion, though. And yes, Android is very fun!
