I live in FL. They’re honestly not a problem at all. You normally don’t even see them. If you do, it’s typically because you’re digging in the sand and you spot just a couple wiggling their way back down. So many people run right past them or even step on them. I have never seen a huge cluster like that. I’m 21 and spent most of my childhood weekends at the beach. In my experience, it’s more common to find split/dead ones in the sand as your making sandcastles or on top of the sand as you’re looking for seashells.

Looks like something in Southern California too. Way back when👵🏻, my school would have like field trips to the beach, and multiple times, we had to be told, don't bring any clams back! By the time we made it back to school, they'd be stinking up the classroom.
