I work a lot of events, many only need an HT, and most events, I keep an HT on as a backup incase something happens to the primary radio so I won't miss anything. This is an interesting approach, and would enable you to use a battery eliminator on the HT, saving the actual HT battery for if you have to leave your station, preserving its power. And if the battery got low, you could very quickly swap batteries. I hadn't thought of an approach like this, and it definitely has me thinking on it now! Thanks for the idea!
