KETO DEEP DISH PIZZA RECIPE | This is the best keto pizza I’ve had in my whole life

Seriously. Amazing. Keto Pizza. This keto deep dish pizza has all the characteristics of a true Chicago style pizza. With a thick crust made from cornmeal - except we don’t use cornmeal in this keto pizza recipe. We use lupin flour which has a similar appearance and flavor of cornmeal. We also add our cheese down first to allow for it to get melty without burning it. Then add the toppings - pepperoni. Then more cheese on the pizza and finally we spread a layer of low sugar marinara sauce.

*** NOTE: I found the exact lupin that I used. It's lupin meal. I have it linked below.

There is no need to pre-bake this keto pizza crust. Just add all of your toppings on top of the dough and bake it in oven. To get that deep dish effect, I used a cast iron skillet (8 inches) but you can use a cake pan or a square baking dish as a substitute if you don’t own cast iron.

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup almond flour
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt

Toppings:
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
12 slices pepperoni
⅓ cup low sugar marinara sauce

Melt mozzarella cheese in a glass bowl in the microwave at 60 second intervals until melted. Add melted cheese to a food processor along with flours, egg, baking powder and salt. Pulse until a dough ball forms. Press into a greased 6.5 or 8 inch cast iron skillet or cake pan. Press dough up along the edges. Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of the dough. Then layer down the pepperoni. Sprinkle remaining cheese. Spread sauce on top of the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Broil on high for 2-3 minutes just to get the top of the pizza bubbly.

One of the tricks to a good Chicago deep dish or Chicago stuffed is to coat the pan with a heavy coat of butter then dust with fresh grated parmesan. This gives a buttery, carmelized parmesan taste that is amazing. Also, this is so popular Amazon is all sold out of lupin meal.

Personally I think that having your sponsor in no way connected to the ingredients enforces your amazing ability to come up with these spectacular recipes. All the ingredients used were used because through trial and error you came up with the best possible combination of ingredients without outside influence. You are great at what you do and I hope you have a very prosperous 2021.

Wow! This is a total win!! Even my youngest son, who automatically thinks he is going to hate anything keto, loves it! I was skeptical when I was mixing up the dough, because I don’t have a food processor, and had to mix by hand (even ditched the spoon and squished it with my hands to get it to mix -with clean hands of course, lol). I was worried as I was pressing it into the iron skillet, because it didn’t seem to be mixed up all that well. I went ahead and did the sauce-cheese-pepperoni, rather than backwards, because I knew if it did not look like traditional pizza, my son would decide he hated it. It came out It had a beautiful presentation, and then my son said “I love the crust!” Definitely making it again!

Holy shit I'm from Chicago this totally made my day. The only thing I would do different is make a double batch of the dough and make sure it's around the whole inside walls of the pan. Load it with cheese and sauce and pepperoni. Definitely making this over the weekend thank you for such great videos.

I am more of a NY style pizza lover. Been to Naples, Italy, and like aspects of Neopalitan pizza, too. But, not cared too much for deep dish pizza. Too many are like casseroles not pizza. Anyway, I tried your recipe, and we loved it!! The texture, flavor and bake in a cast iron skillet are fantastic! The lupin flour is a game changer in keto baking. On top of that, it was very easy to make. That's important for me as I'm fighting cancer, and look for more ease now. I pressed the crust up the sides a bit, and have doubled the recipe for left overs. I must say you always stay classy with the troll and nasty comments. Why can't people just fast forward through a set up to the recipe or watch someone else, as nasty is not constructive criticism. Anyway, we've enjoyed your channel and several recipes. Keep 'em coming, Annie!

Ok, I need to update my experience since my last post. The first time I made this pizza I used a Sweet White Lupin “flour” from Small Town Specialties because that’s what I had on hand. It’s ground very fine like super fine almond flour. The pizza was delicious and I decided to make it again. This second time, I decided to try the Lupin product that Annie suggested in this blog. It’s “Ground” Lupin Bean from Carrington Farms. This product is a very coarse grind more like a meal in texture. I went ahead and made my second batch with it and it was also very delicious. But later after having eaten the pizza I made with the Carrington Farms product, I experienced terrible cramping, gas and diarrhea. I’m guessing that the coarse grind needs a bit more cooking than what is done in the pizza recipe for my particular digestive system. My husband didn’t have any negative effects and ate the rest of the pizza the next day. But I’m not deterred, I’ll be making this delicious pizza again with the Sweet White Lupin Flour. As for the Carrington Farms product, I’m going to try the recipe I found on the “Serious Keto” channel for Cheesy Keto Grits With Chiles. That recipe calls for boiling it to make Keto grits.

Yum! It’s delicious! Just had it for supper and for the record, I just mixed it all by hand, that’s easier to me then cleaning up my food processor 😝

Sweeteners to Avoid on a Low-Carb Keto Diet
Maltodextrin: This highly processed sweetener is produced from starchy plants like rice, corn or wheat and contains the same amount of calories and carbs as regular sugar. Built bars include this if you're strict Keto, but many of us are not. Best wishes!

I made this pizza tonight! It’s so delicious. Very close to a full carb pizza. Super easy and quick to make. Next time I will make it thinner because some spots were thick! Thanks for your dedication

Ding, ding, ding! Another winner! This is a delectable pizza recipe. I used a rolling pin to flatten out the dough and get it to the deep-dish shape I wanted. Annie, thank you so much for this channel!

Yummy! Just finished my pizza 🍕 key for me is a 6” pan so the crust can be thin and go to top of skillet. I used more cheese and sauce since the pan was small and I could make it thicker with cheese, pepperoni and sauce! Note: Bring cheese up around the lip of the crust. Best Keto pizza yet!
