For me, emulators are a way to relive games I wasn’t even around to play. Plus a lot of old games are just so good, they’re complete, classic, and wonderful.

Plus it’s pure nostalgia to go back and just see the games that were at one time, the next generation. Always amazing to see

The leg that nintendo really had to stand on was when they locked some of the games behind a patron exclusive tier. Meaning they lost their protection of being a free service.

"games don't count as software"

And a truck isn't a fucking motor vehicle

The funny thing is that in your library on the Nintendo Switch, your digital games are literally labeled as "software". Bullshit they aren't "software". Nintendo literally calls it "software". :(

I just wish backing up games was as easy as ripping a cd, when you require a hacked 20 year old piece of hardware to do it for some systems it's just a ridiculous amount of work.

Software is literally a program that runs on a computer. Is Nintendo high?

Okay but lets be real.
The biggest reason, and why yuzu likely didnt fight it.
Was because they were making money and gating unofficial patches behind that payroll, right?
Thats like the 1 thing every rom and emulator maker know not to do

The biggest problem was yuzu profiting from it by putting features behind a paywall, they shot themselves in the foot along with the rest of emulation and gave nintendo the easiest case of their lives

Thanks to this Aussie legend creator called Bennvenn, I managed to get a device to transfer my complete Pokémon Yellow safe file to my computer. My precious Genwunners are safe!

I believe in the UK we can't even legally back up our own bought software, which honestly really sucks when there's a cartridge or disc failure after many years of ownership

even youtubers arent researching enough and its getting on my nerves they hit yuzu because yuzu WAS DISTRIBUTING the TOTK rom before release

They also sued citra, a 3ds emulator, in which Nintendo is getting no money from.

LOL that "not software" argument worked well for them.

Personally as long as you don't take sales from Nintendo and make sure you give the credit and make sure they got some of the money because they made the game because if you just take free games it is very bad because then Nintendo get no money and in fact loses money and then they go broke.

agree, emulating for me is like conserving the game, physical game can be broken or defect (as the time goes by it certainly would worn off) so to perserve it ripping my own game is one of the way and the way gamers want to easily access their library makes emulator is their best option..

If Yuzu didn't release those patches for PAID PATRONS that optimize emulation of Tears of The Kingdom BEFORE RELEASE Nintendo's case would be MUCH MUCH WEAKER and even though i wholeheartedly agree with your point and will zealously defend emulation, Yuzu did this to themselves this time. Still got Ryujinx i guess, cause they didn't optimize leaked piracy

Wow a way where you can experience the game in its best format without having to fork over 50 bucks every month for a non-drifting controller?

Lets nuke it!

If buying isn’t owning, then piracy isn’t stealing.
