Handling Syringe and Needle

This may be old but I learned from it. I searched for this because i just sliced my thumb on an 18G needle for my cat's IV. I did it just like one of the examples of how NOT to do it with my thumb pointing to the base. When the cap (finally after a struggle) came off, my thumb slid along the needle & the tip sliced it real good.

I just did it as explained with the index finger pointing in the direction of the needle & used that & my thumb only & the cap popped right off safely. Thank you for this video!

CAVEAT: in the beginning of this video, the demonstrator keeps placing his index finger over the top of the plastic cap that houses the needle and pushing down. I would not get in the habit of doing that because if you push too hard the needle can break through the end of the plastic cap and stick you. You wouldn't think so, but this has happened to me. Always grasp the sides of the plastic cap and push down with thumb & forefinger when testing the security of needle hub in syringe.

overall great video but just a quick aspetic note the tabs of the packet are there for a reason the reason is so the needle dosent touch the outside unsteirile carboard surface of the needle packet so that is why you always use the opening tabs but good video in short

Is this an 11 year old video? Yes, did I figure out a safer way to remove a needle cap bc I kept managing to slice my hand while removing the cap? Also yes.

I would like to know how to remove needle from syringe after using for cauliflower ear to remove blood. Is it okay to use to suck out blood and then remove cap safely and then discard syringe with liquid in it still

Very unsafe practice when moving forward and backwards the cap starting on time 2:36. Scary coming from a training video.
