Dozens of phone calls have been made to the Perth Observatory after people reported 'a giant fireball' above south-west Australia. The fireball is believed to have been a meteor that entered the Earth's atmosphere at speeds of up to 20km per second, according to the observatory. Scientists from Curtin University are investigating whether the meteor completely burned up in the atmosphere or hit the ground near York, a town about 100km east of Perth

I once saw it, it was one of the best moment i've ever had. I laid down on the carriage of tractor with a loaded grain. We pass the road and suddenly a fireball came flying. It was amazing.

I used to drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles round trip 6 nights per week. I’ve seen dozens of fireballs while driving through the desert, but never one this bright.

I saw one where I lived, it wasn't on the news and no-one I knew had seen it, it was just this super fast flash of white that streamed through the sky and I had to convince myself that I had seen it due to the shock.

That is very much like one I saw in the late 90s while on a beach in Lancelin, pitch black night and it lit the place up. It happened very quickly my girl thought it was a blue flash I thought more of a green one, amazing!

I just saw one in kuwait, had to search it to find out what it was, it was burning red with an orange reddish streak behind it, it traveled very low and lasted for about 5 seconds, it was AWESOME!

Thanks to the genius who came up with the idea of circling the huge fireball coming from the sky. I would never have been able to see it otherwise.

More amazingly than that, it seems that everyone in Australia drives around at no less than 68 and no more than 71km/h.
