Jamiriquai's "Seven Days" (in sunny June) is a funky gem with a little Steely Dan DNA in the progression, prominent acoustic piano and production.

My dad got me into listening to Jamiroquai in the early 2000s, so happy he did!

Quincy Jones was the producer on Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall album but he brought in an Englishman called Rod Temperton to write the songs for him. Rod also wrote Thriller for MJ, which was the biggest hit of MJ’s career and one of the biggest selling singles of all time.

“After being subsequently recruited by record producer Quincy Jones, he wrote several internationally known hit songs performed by Michael Jackson, including "Thriller", [1][2] "Off the Wall", [2] and "Rock with You".[2] He also wrote hit songs for George Benson, including "Give Me the Night"[2] and "Love X Love", along with Patti Austin and James Ingram's United States number one hit "Baby, Come to Me", [2] among many others.”

Canned Heat and Virtual Insanity are my favorite songs from Jamiroquai. I would imagine you are familiar with those as they were both pretty popular. Check them out if you haven't heard them.

If you want a funky bass line, check out Runaway.

Also, just so you know, you said "he" a couple times referencing Jamiroquai. Jamiroquai is a band, Jay Kay the frontman.
