I love worldwide revenue stamps. I’ve acquired a set of Barefoot catalogues to keep track of what I have vs. what I need. But the British Commonwealth revenues are the most interesting.

Revenue staps, especially 1900 southern african are best collected on piece. Some revenue stamps use fugitive inks and xollecting on piece conveys a lot more contextual information. There is nothing worse than. A revenue that is off color for a specific year if soaked off with water

In the narrow definition, philately is "the collection and study of postage stamps." Collecting revenues can thus quite rightly be placed outside philately proper. Shouldn't stop you from collecting them, however.
