This video is one on a series of decolonisation. This is the 2nd video, the first being African Decolonisation. We're currently working on a video on East Asian Decolonisation which will come out in the next 2 months or so. Afterwards we will continue until we've covered every part of the world.

Antarctica should be divided between the different penguin species that call it home. With one capital territory co-ruled by Skipper and his crew. Problem solved

Portugal coming in to the Berlin Conference with the 0:42 map: As you can see, all of Africa rightfully belongs to us according to the Treaty of Tordesillas, so back off-
The other imperial powers: Oh no!
The other imperial powers proceeding to divide the continent their way: *Anyway*

I thought New Zealand was just a fictional place. That's why I never see it on maps

You didn't mention the era of the banana farms and coconut harvesting.
Nobody ever mentions the vast economic resources extracted from Antarctica during its colonial period.

Since China's installation of a an Antarctic 'research' station, Great Wall, in 1985 it has installed three more and is constructing a fifth to secure China's access to the region's resources. Three of China's stations are based within the Australian Antarctic Territory and the fifth is under construction on an island in the Ross Sea. China’s stations represent substantial investment and construction of icebreakers and continental airstrips to provide year-round access; a strategic approach that is at the level of a national security policy. Official documentation incorporates Antarctica and the Southern Ocean into the state’s expanded conception of domains for influence and dominance, beyond the Indo-Pacific. Beijing recognises no existing claims to the continent and pursues a strategy that maximises its own national interests there.

Hi @history scope, just a quick question related to another video. Did you have a video on the history or the Jews? I'm sure I saw one you made and now can't find it?

Fun fact: The Antarctic Treaty expires in 2048, meaning that one day soon, the dreams of Technoblade, Philza and VoiceOverPete will be realized with the establishment of THE GLORIOUS *ANTARCTIC EMPIRE!*

All this might be true. But Norway was the first to reach the actual south pole.
We are still Vikings. And we will soon be space Vikings.

I legitimately can't tell how much of this was real and how much of this was April Fool's.
