I got one of these from university surplus last year to hold me over until my M1 Max finally showed up, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it ran. It really is one of the best to ever come out.

I have a 2012 MBP 2.3ghz with anti-glare (matte) screen. I purchased it direct from Apple in 2012 and am still using it today as my secondary machine. It is maxed out with reputable ram, and upgraded to Mac OS Ventura using OCLP and I am blown away by the performance from an 11 year old computer. I also dual boot to Windows 11 for my architectural work, with windows-only apps such as Autodesk Revit. The anti-glare screen is so nice to work on when creating drawings for presentations, great experience and no glossy glass glare at all! It’s fantastic for architecture.

Back in August ‘22 I bought a 15” mid 2012 macbook pro for only $90 on ebay, it had a 500gb hdd and 4gb of ram. I since put 16gb of ram, a 256gb ssd, and it runs like an absolute clock for less than $200. It runs mac os ventura amazingly. Theres nothing I need a computer to do that this machine cant do, but it does get hot at times lol

My antiglare Unibody 2012 Macbook Pro is still in my possession! Recently, I experienced a problem with my keyboard after 11 years of use and had to replace it. As a result, because I had to remove the motherboard, I cleaned and de-dusted everything, even the fans. Furthermore, I cleaned the CPU and GPU of the old thermal paste before applying a new thermal paste to these surfaces. After this, I discovered that my MacBook was running quieter, the fans almost silent, and that the average CPU temperature was less than 54º. I hope this beauty lasts for many more years because I use it for most of my tasks.

Upgrading this particular MacBook to macos ventura using open core legacy patcher would be a great video, Luke! Not a tutorial (there are lots out there), but a usability video!

Currently using the mid 2012 antiglare for college computer science. A suprisingly competent machine. I lucked out with the battery and got an essentially new one that holds a charge for hours. 16gb ram and an ssd. Can’t complain at all. The fans don’t even kick on that much

Last year I was searching for one of these unibody MacBooks to use as a backup for my cd collection (I wanted the internal disk reader to keep my desk as uncluttered as possible). Scored big time on a 2012 with the 2.6 GHz cpu and the antiglare display, guy only wanted $50. Easiest purchase decision ever.

Yeah, I too have one of these exact MBPs (15", 2.7 GHz, antiglare, 500GB SSD). Over the years I swapped out the drive for a 2TB SSD, and the DVD drive for a 4TB HDD, upgraded the RAM to 16GB, and did many repairs (original logic board still going though!). It was such a capable machine that it was my only computer for ten years. It could do anything! Still working too. I literally did not replace this machine until late 2021 when I got a 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro. I think that's a machine I can make last just as long.

It’s still a great MacBook Pro. I have one 2012, i7 2.7, 512Gb Apple SSD, 16Gb RAM with the anti glare hires screen. Still working good. Love it. Thanks for the video Luke!

I have a late 2011 still kicking around. Specifically ordered it with that anti-glare panel. It definitely worked well in class at the time, what with a thousand fluorescent lights and windows open to the sun. And yes. I totally turfed the DVD drive for a second SSD. 16 gigs of ram too, which was not officially supported but worked just fine.

I have just such a one) Recently I was thinking of changing it to something newer, but I have no reason to do so) It performs all my work tasks, looks good, does not slow down) Thank you for drawing the attention of viewers to such high-quality products)🎉

I still have the 13" mid 2012 2.9 Ghz version of this and still working after changing the ssd and adding ram. It still works and for as long as you are not playing graphics intensive games, it works fine.

This was the first Macbook Pro I ever bought for myself. 2.7ghz and anti-glare screen used it for 8 years and it was so good.
