Walk through Flussbad Au-Höngg | On the Werdinsel along Limmat River | Zurich Switzerland 2023

Just 35 years ago, cars were piled up on it, but today the Werdinsel is a popular, natural local recreation area that has to meet many demands. This area of around eight hectares (approx. twelve football pitches) is home to bathers with and without swimming trunks, chillers and barbecues, rubber boat captains, parents with children, gardeners, theatre professionals, strollers with and without dogs, ball sports players and open-air visitors. Especially on beautiful summer days, many needs meet in a small space.

The Flussbad Au-Höngg is located on the Werdinsel in the northwest of Zurich, in the district of Höngg. On one side the Limmat flows past the island, on the other side is the canal, which is suitable for swimming. In between, it's great to sunbathe or rest under one of the many trees.
