Players need to be schooled in MLB biz prior to signing with any rep/agent/scam corp, LLP, LLC, and other.

Just because Elli is desperate or dumb doesnt mean he should legally be taken advantage of. Anyone who signs such a deal shall forfeit their Union Rep and new contracts over 2 million to limit the % agreed upon.

It's a lot of risk for the company, it's an amazing idea though and worth every penny for the player. Now guys can legitimately chase their dreams for 3+ years, without having to worry about money and be able to give back to their families.

Oh no I only get to make 92 million on a 100 million contract, this seems like a great deal for many players, they aren't going to miss that 8% even at league minimum but money in the minors is a struggle

This is NOT accurate at all. Elly signed a contract for $350, 000 in exchange for 8% of future MLB contract earnings. He does not have to pay back the $350, 000 ever.
Elly will get a guaranteed $742, 000 from his MLB contract, to which he will pay BLA 8%, or $59, 360, of.

MLB players pay, in total, about 45% of their earnings in taxes, leaving Elly with $393260, then taking home $333, 900 after paying BLA.

He was dirt broke and poor in the DR, there was no risk to him at all. Everything is icing on the cake to him.
