Ubisoft CAUGHT Changing Yasuke Wikipedia: Assassins Creed Shadows DEI Agenda EXPOSED!

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives have become increasingly prominent in the chatter around the entire video game industry these days. While these efforts were once thought of as essential for fostering a more inclusive environment, people are coming to realize that there are instances where their implementation can feel forced or incongruent with the source material.
A recent example of this is Ubisoft's latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series: "Assassin's Creed: Shadows", which features a black samurai character in Sengoku-era Japan. This decision has sparked some obvious debate among fans and former industry insiders, highlighting the challenges of balancing DEI with... well.. historical authenticity. Even more controversy is happening over at Wikipedia right now over the historical representation of Samurai, leading to noticeable changes on the site. It is now diverging significantly from the traditional understanding of Samurai as disciplined warriors adhering to the Bushido code.

It’s strange that people who are all for diversifying everything also oppose colonialism and cultural appropriation, yet are perfectly fine with colonising and appropriating other nations’ history.

Wikipedia no longer has any validity, if it ever has.

Wonder what Japan would think of people trying to re write their own history.

Theoretically the Japanese government could take them to court like the Egyptian one did to Netflix over misrepresentation of national history.

Yasuke WASN'T a samurai. He was a sword bearer.

To think that the Assassin's Creed saga was once praised for historical accuracy

I hope the Japanese government takes them to court for trying to change their history. It's serious cultural appropriation and historical appropriation

Ubisoft: black Persians, black Egyptians, black Japanese.

Yasuke, as a slave, could have never been allowed to wear a full set of samurai armor. Also, a female ninja, but the outfit looks like came from China. this is totally a western view of Japan/east in terms of appropriation.

Yasuke was a slave retainer. A glorfied bag carrier. He wasnt and will never be a samurai.

I’m Persian, and rarely do I ever see any Persians being represented in any video games. If ever. Once in a millennia you get a prince of Persia type game where Persians can be represented. But what did Ubisoft do? They made the prince of Persia Black with a Miles Morales haircut lol. Not that I really care, but it’s just the principal. It seems like no ethnicity, race or culture is exempt from being turned black. Isn’t that disrespectful to Persians or am I just crazy?

Ubisoft could've paid their respect to black history by choosing a period of significance in black culture. Instead they try to force a black man somewhere he obviously doesn't belong. When this game flops they'll say it's because of the ignorant bigots who bashed on the game, and not their delusional agenda.

As a Japanese History professor, i find this REPULSIVE...but i have recepits, for i have the original history books of the sengoku period. Yasuke doesn't even fill a goddamn page, because he was a...let's say, "vassal" of Nobunaga (i'm trying to be as much safe as i can to put it in words that don't cause a scrubbing)

I don't know WHY exactly him, but it's not just Ubishit doing this, *it's a coordinated push. There are movies and series that are planned behind Yasuke making him a Samurai, and a hero (which he wasn't), but this time, it's **_way_** too evident of a push now that everyone's watching whatever "inclusion" 's being pushed around*

Seeing The Iga and Kouga being overlooked in an Assassin’s Creed game is criminal.

The problem is if you're the only black person japan at that time period you being stealthy won't matter BECAUSE YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKS LIKE THAT

Yasuke was a slave brought by Portuguese and then given to Oda Nobunaga. No slave ever achieved Samurai status in that time period. Proof is that he doesn’t even have a surname.
