I find the lyric about Nancy being a yellow rose so sweet because yellow roses mean symbolize friendship and that means that he thought of her as his best friend and that’s wonderful.

This is actually the same formula as "Soldier, Poet, King". This is a pop song played in a way as to sound like Scotts-Irish folk. The energy and speed mixed beautifully with a sing-songy, homely, melody. Thank you Lord for songs like this!

This song is literally the story of my grandparents love. My grandfather passed away this week, but even as his mind and body declined he never forgot his love for my grandmother. He would recite love poems he wrote about her to the family over and over, but although we groaned back then I would give anything to hear my Grampy recite those beautiful Irish poems again.

This is the story of Ed's grandparents. William died some time ago, but as far as I'm aware Nancy (her actual name is Anne) is still alive.

I adore this song. Everytime I listen to it, I see a young boy and girl dancing to it, like 7 years old, giggling and joking around with the lyrics and it warms my heart. :, )

We play this song at every family gathering. The songs of a Irish family, lots of dancing yelling and drinking

My grandfather was a US colonel in the second world war. In a combat mission against the Nazis, he got shot in the abdomen. He was quickly transported to a medical ward the the nurse in charge of him was my grandmother. The first thing she said to him was, "you drool when you sleep". He told me the moment he woke up and saw her, he immediately knew that he liked her. After the war ended, they secretly got married because his father in law didn't approve of his immigrant parents. He actually has twenty two children. My grandfather had Irish roots so he would always play the irish flute or sing old ballads. He passed away in his slepp due to lung cancer 2 months ago. All I want to is to hear him sing them again.

I like that it sort of has an Irish/Scottish flair to it!

This is the perfect song for my D&D character's family's lore. She comes from a large farming family. I'm just imagining this is the sort of song that they play during the harvest festival. Such a vibe. Love it!

I genuinely couldn’t believe this was a modern song. I was convinced that it was an old folk song.
