Golf MK7 Front View Camera, part 2: grill and badge mod

Modifying #VW Golf MK7 grill and placing front view #camera in the vehicle for my DIY #frontView project. I believe I've found the right camera for my needs, with wide enough field of view, small size, compact shape, satisfying low-light performance. I removed front grill, disassembled front badge, applied template to drill the hole, positioned the camera, glued it in place, assembled it back, connected to MIB2, and checked if it works as expected.

🚗 This project is made in 2015 Volkswagen Golf MK7 with MIB2 Discover Media infotainment system and retrofitted original RVC High camera. This is not a retrofit project, since this functionality was not available in for VW Golf MK7. Some other MQB vehicles had option of 360 AreaView feature with 4 cameras and 3D view. My project is a custom modification that I'm planning to make in my vehicle. I'm just sharing my progress and hope for your input.

Imagine someone buying this car second hand in the future and thinking it’s just a “basic” golf variant… the amount of changes you did to your car is huge. I learned alot from it to do on my own Golf MK7

Would be interesting to see if you could mount a rear pop out camera badge in the front badge. That way it would generate the lines and be kept clean when hidden

What type of camera is it? What type of signal and resolution?

What about the dirt which will stick to that camera. Do you plan do add windshield fluid line to clean that camera? Can you post exact model number of that cool flashlight?

Hi, nice project, i will try with the front peripheral camera in bumper but it's hard to find pin out, i tkink you can increase the FOV with a 1.5mm lens (180°)

Question: Audi Q7 has cameras in the front back and under the L/R mirrors. Is there a way to program them also work as security cameras that can record?
Something like the sentri mode in Tesla?
