In this video you will learn how to create multiple dependent lists in Excel without VBA.

We will use Data Validation to create our lists with the help of the Indirect and Substitute Functions in Excel.

We want one drop down list to determine the options available for the second list in Excel.

At the end of this video there's a nice little challenge for you.

Hi! At 3:00, when I have to use "substitute" I still get an error, I'm going crazy! =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(THECELLWENEED, " ", "_")) must be an error somewhere 100% but can't figure out.

EDIT: I must use " ; " instead of ", " BUT... I still have a curious problem: the first dropdown list have 2 choices with more words (so, spaces...), the next dependant dropdown list (the one that uses =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE etc...) can resolve only the 1st choice with spaces... If I select the other one i cannot select anything in 2nd dropdown list. This is so weird
