Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss condition is at the heart of the slap heard ‘round the world at this year’s Oscars. She first spoke about living with alopecia four years ago and has been sharing her emotional journey with the condition ever since. Nearly seven million Americans suffer from alopecia, which can cause embarrassment and shame, especially among Black women, according to Jada. Inside Edition spoke to women who say they felt her pain over Chris Rock’s joke.

I have alopecia. The joke wasn’t about that. It was about Jada being compared to G.I. Jane who was bald in the movie. The joke was so mild. It really doesn’t justify that violent reaction.

Will Smith himself has made numerous bald jokes against men and women alike. Being and emotional triggered girl over a simple joke is not excusable for any reason.

Sometimes taking a joke as just a joke saves your feelings and your reputation.

Joke or not, it still does not give Will the right to assault Chris!

It wasn't alopecia that caused the violence, it was the entanglement.

People have gotten so soft these days. It was a joke that came from a COMEDIAN. The joke didn’t physically harm anyone.

If she didn’t give two craps about what people say then why did that Chris rock joke hurt her so much🤡

Stop stop stop defending Will and Jada They took their marriage mess and showed disrespect to The 3 ladies hosting The show. He should have been hauled of stage. Arrogant Jerk.

The joke was not about alopecia! Chris Rock didn’t know she had it. Many women wear shaved heads. She was sitting there in army green with a shaved head- hence the GI JANE JOKE! Everyone needs to get over this and stop blowing it out of proportion!!! Jada just needs another reason to blast her self righteous, narcissistic attitude everywhere! If people need to focus on something- focus on the violence that came with no consequences!!!!

My aunt has rheumatoid arthritis, she’s pretty young, and I can honestly say it took her sometime to live with alopecia comfortably. But what Will did was unneccary & aggressive, but look up the passive-aggressive version where an SNL writer Nimesh Patel gets kicked off stage for a joke, by the hosts who invited him.

And G I Jane was a good movie with Demi Moore who could be bald or not, she’s still beautiful . So not a bad joke in my eyes.

Based on what happened last I think people have forgot that Jada has shaved her head bald several times over the years and has looked gorgeous. This isn’t like Beyoncé losing all her and being forced to shave it and now this is the very first time anyone has ever seen her bald. Jada and Willow shave off their hair ever other year. That’s why Chris felt comfortable to use the joke because she wears it just as well as Demi in GI Jane. I think he meant that she wears the pants in the relationship, as Demi did in the movie, and not about her being bald. Also Will is a comedian how many jokes has he told about people. So should everyone line up and slap him because the line would be very long. You can’t throw a tantrum because you have misplaced anger and assault someone because you’re still salty that August banged your wife. Ridiculous.

I understand that it hurt, I understand it was embarrassing, but in the real world no one really cares about your feelings period. Will is an example of just how much you can get away with whatever when you have power. It doesn't matter what verbal thing was said. Stop trying to justify what he did was "right" or "okay".

She is strong enough to fight her own battle. She doesn’t need her “man” to make a fool of himself.
Because Will was laughing at Chris joke at first 🤔.

Alopecia has nothing to do with nor is it a justification or reason for slapping Chris in the face on stage in front of millions. The GI Jane joke was just that: A Joke. That’s okay if she didn’t like it but Will should have kept his butt in his seat and had a conversation after. Here I thought GI Jane was beautiful. I didn’t know Jada had alopecia but with or without it, she’s still beautiful. I hold both her and Will accountable. No apology, public or otherwise, will amend what’s been done. Total embarrassment for the Rock family.

I guess people acting like they never watched his stand-up he is way more raw check his previous monologue’s at the Oscars even. Regina Hall’s diss was way worse. That was actually a complement he was not even making fun of her.

Jada has been vocal about owning her alopecia, and being empowered by that instead of letting alopecia take her power. What Chris said barely even qualifies as a joke. He aligned her with an iconic female empowerment meme which is a compliment disguised as a weak joke. Any writer saw that. The man knew the seating chart, and did not just walk out there, and say whatever came to mind. The comment was well thought out, and hardly a big deal. The entitlement here is off the charts, and only proves that our public discourse just went down yet another rung.

Let's keep it real people, it was a G.I Jane joke. The joke wasn't malicious or anything. Not to mention chris said he didn't even kno she had alopecia before making that joke. Funny how Jada says she loves herself and she don't care what anyone says, then u roll ur eyes and shoot ur husband a look when a small time joke is made. It's all good for u to air out all ur personal dirty laundry at wills expense, but heaven forbid someone cracks a joke bout u
