Pharalatso ea Sekoele, Saturday, July 15, 2023 held at Ha 'Nelese, Maseru.
The event celebrates Basotho women from various backgrounds and aims to empower them through "PITIKI" music as well as qualities to become independent across various sectors in life, while taking care of their families.
MOAFRIKA FM has a community of women who participate in PITIKI festivities, referred to as Litotla tsa Setloholo. These women have families which they responsibly take care off, and are also responsible citizens who symbols being a Mosotho woman.
Sebonomoea RK Ramainoane, the man responsible for popularising this music through MOAFRIKA FM radio station in the early 2000s, when no one dared to play it anywhere or even wan to be associated with is known as Tonakholo ea Litotla, loosely translated as Litotla's The Prime-minister.
In the video, Litotla are seen fetching their Prime-minister in a colourful dance and music parade dubbed "sefofane". From the parade he gets to have a word with these women, encourage them to hold onto the principles of a righteous Mosotho woman. He does not participate in the actual PITIKI, as it is reserved solely for married women.
The festival was held as part of the celebrations leading to the 25 years of MOAFRIKA FM, now known as MOAFRIKA RADIO TELEVEISION.
