BobBlast 338 - 'No Light Source, No Shadow... No Problem!'

BobBlast #338
No Light Source, No Shadow… No Problem!
Welcome back to another BobBlast!
In the previous BobBlast I demonstrated how to paint the illusion of a three dimensional object, emphasizing a light source and how to paint the shadow. This BobBlast is a direct way I like to approach an abstract/non-objective painting with no light source or shadows.
This BobBlast is a quick demo of how I start a loose abstract painting.
I start with the concept and titled it “Meandering Alone”.
The focus of this painting is on the color combination, a focal point color and a graphic design composition.
I started with an overall tone of blue - the dominant color. I brush in different blues. I am using Holbein Artist Acrylic Paint (heavy body) - Ultramarine Deep, Compose Blue #1 and Compose Blue #2.
The focal point was next - I selected Luminous Opera, also Holbein Artist Acrylic Paint (heavy body).
The graphic design composition I selected was in my title: Meandering (with a little cantilever thrown in for good measure).
Once I have the plan for the painting established, I can go play!
