Canonically, for a time, all you needed to beat the Green Lantern would have been a raincoat and a Stanley Wrecking Bar. You could drive a school bus as well if you're feeling extra into it

1-the color yellow
2-the fact EVERYONE in the universe knew number one

I don't think it was or is the dumbest. Yellow is a common color and even though they are already like an one man army, the Guardians wanted someone to be able to stop them. Kinda like the Manhunters they made those machines we're just cold killers not caring who got in the way, so the Guardians just reprogrammed them. It is almost like how they got rid of Wonder Woman's weakness, "If she gets bound by a man she loses her powers." She is almost on par with Superman in strength, not to mention she is a trained warrior. If any man is able to bind her, it wouldn't be for long she would use whats around her to free herself.

I find that it silly at time because even with these weakness they can used loophole but often we don't see them try to be smart about. like If you can't hit someone that yellow, grab a small rock and used the lantern ring to accelerated it like a bullet. Or try to effect yellow thing by trying to manipulate the environment around the things in yellow. Aim at the white of people eye. You can have a dramatic seen that as the green lantern get beaten up and more bloody, then as they are cover in blood it started act as something that block the yellow from contacting the green light so they can have a dramatic comeback. I can think plenty of way to get around it but writers these day are not creative enough to play with the idea.
