The United States is tracking the events in the Middle East very closely and is committed to Israel's defense, U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday (October 1) after Iran's ballistic missile attack on Israel.

"Iran for the second time in the space of five months, launched a direct attack on Israel, including some 200 ballistic missiles. This is totally unacceptable and the entire world should condemn it. Initial reports suggest that Israel, with the active support of the United States and other partners, effectively defeated this attack," Blinken said before a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the State Department in Washington.
