Personally for me I’d pick Raphinha to win the ballon d’or because he’s been absolutely unstoppable and in the biggest of games he always delivers, he’s a leader and he gives his 100% every game he’s everywhere on the field, tracking back, starting the press and his performances in the champions league have been incredible but tbh I wouldn’t be mad at all if Salah won it because they both make a solid case to win it.

As good as Raphinha has been, and he’s been really good…. Salah is the best player in the world right now by whatever measure you can come up with. Individually, most goal contributions. His team is 1st in CL and PL with big point gaps in both competitions. I love Raphinha as a player and hope he can keep this going to where he can cement himself as one of the best players in the world regardless of form. But right now, it’s not a debate. Mo Salah is the best player in football.

Raphinha has been the captain of Barca for most of the season. He has the most chances created in Europe, the highest average match rating amongst the top attackers, the most MOTM performances in BIG games….and he’s not on penalties. Not to mention his work rate and his multiple defensive actions per game as well.

It’s too early to say that these are the ballon d’or finalists, but if they were, I’m giving the edge to Salah. He’s been this consistent for so long and deserves to be recognised, scoring 20-30ish goals every year. This is the first year that Raphinha has achieved these types of numbers.

But we’ll know later in the crunch time of the season. Plus it will depend on who wins the trophies! Barca are struggling in the league.
