As average annual temperatures increase, seasons change, and heavy rain events become more common, scientists, health professionals, and individuals are already noticing an increase in air pollution, allergens, diseases carried by vectors, and other public health threats. Some health threats are existing and will intensify, and other new threats are likely to emerge. This webinar will focus on solutions that highlight how local communities can prepare for the health effects of climate change. Paul Schramm from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will introduce the Building Resilience Against Climate Effects (BRACE) framework. BRACE is a five-step process that helps local governments use data, projections, and analysis to anticipate and respond to climate sensitive health impacts. Attendees will also hear from Dr. Ted Smith with the Envirome Institute and the Center for Healthy Air Water and Soil. He will discuss the Green Heart Louisville Project, a project in partnership with Louisville Metro Government and others to study if increasing green vegetation in an urban community will reduce air pollution and improve health outcomes at the local level.

Presenters
• Paul Schramm, MS, MPH, Climate Science Team Lead, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
