The thing is that the Mewtwo that Red fought and the Mewtwo that Ash fought are completely different Mewtwos. The most obvious difference is that the Mewtwo Ash fought is incredibly intelligent, strategic, and can speak through telepathy, while the Mewtwo that Red fought was more beast-like and seemed to have no cognitive abilities, as it’s only screaming and has a more “savage” personality when compared to the aloof nature of Ash’s Mewtwo.
