As someone who’s grown up with inswing doors all my life, I literally didn’t even notice you’re outswing until this clip pointed it out. I have top-notch powers of observation, clearly 😝

Having your hinges on the outside even with security hinges offers absolutely no security benefits and they are no harder to break into than a swing in door

As a home builder in ohio, by building code we have to have inward swing doors, In case of emergency and so people can’t block you In,

There's no way I'd trust a door with hinges on the outside would be "harder" to break into.

Very good idea!! For sure!! Specialy in areas with huricanes n stuff! Good point about the breaking in thing too, i never really thought of that, so glad i saw this!

They're actually easier to break into.
You get all the leverage in the world using a pry bar.
And you can knock out the wood where the latch sits very easily.

Dude, come on. If someone wants to break into your house, they will find a way. Just like how your door lock can be easily picked because it's simple. It just keeps honest people out.

This makes it so much easier to break in and if it's a windy day swinging your door outwards makes it harder the hinges can cut

Lived in Florida my whole life. Never had a problem with a in swing door. Not once lol

Funny how weather makes this decision for you. I live in Canada and if you had an out swing door, you’d get trapped inside every snow storm. We have “screen doors” that we put on that swing out and they’re mostly just window and screen so that you can open the big wooden/metal “storm door” during the summer and get a breeze going (AC is unheard of where I grew up). You take the screen door off during the winter.

In Norway they have all doors as out swing(old build are the exception). They do it so it is easier to escape the building incase of fire.

“Maximizes indoor space”, I see why that’s the last point

Out swing doors are so much easier for predators to come into your house if they knock on the door/ring your bell because the door is in THEIR control. In swing doors leave you in control.

Until one day you go out and the wind catches it and away it goes

I always thought that every entry door swings out. I have never encountered an entry door that swings in

It’s Florida we have both stand your ground and castle law, pretty much every single house is armed so if someone does break in they are not going to have a good time.
It’s also very obvious the people commenting on the door being easier to break into have never experienced a hurricane

I've always wondered why some doors were outswing, thanks for clearing that up for me. As for me the thought of being blocked in from the outside freaks me out. So, I'll stick with in swing doors.

I'm actually he's wrong with the pins on the outside I can actually get into your house faster. The screws that go into the door are much shorter and I can break them much easier with a halogen bar.
