Brilliant one, thank you, Ali. I needed this one. I was trying a few things at the range today before I saw this. I do hit behind the ball with irons. My hybrid is my best club in the bag on the flat, using the 2 inches in front of center idea. I tried the two inches in front of center with the irons. But I am generating too much spin and losing distance. I have also tried the one with a coin on the floor two inches behind center to test if I am too early and hit the coin, but I can't remember if it was yours or Andy Carter's idea. PS I have also tried weight on the front foot at setup. Thank you.

Good stuff, Ali.

Per your past lessons, with my set up for irons I usually put most of my weight (maybe 60-70%) on that left foot to begin with and use your other concept to “swing slower to hit farther”...pure iron strikes almost every time in practice and on the course.

The only time I might experience a bad shot is if the lie is up or downhill. Some tips on what to do in those situations would be nice!

Can’t wait to try this at the range tomorrow! I usually make clean contact ball then ground, but when I miss hit, it’s always ground behind the ball first.

And just like you said, it’s always after a decent tee shot😂😂😂

Thanks Ali this is exactly what I needed to help fix my tendency to hit behind the ball. I tried this at the range today and struggled a bit to keep the pressure moving forward. After hitting about 50 balls, it started to happen more naturally and wasn’t as forced. I think with more practice it will get even easier. I just hope I can translate this to the golf course and not rush and go back to my old ways. Golf is always a challenge!

Great tip, can’t wait to try working on this at the weekend. Hopefully can get me more towards a divot - I’m more of a “sweeper” and think I lose some spin/control as a result.

Genuine question, when the simulator normalised your shots it straightened them up slightly. Can you explain why that is and what is actually happening to the ball flight. Is it because the ball was actually affected by the wind but the launch conditions wouldn't normally create that much curve?

Ali, when you were playing your shots near the end, does your shaft lean happen automatically? . I have been putting my shaft lean on before I hit the shot in an attampt to deloft the club, because I generate too much height.

i had a tip of a pro he said to put a old tee or something a few inches in front of the ball and hit the ball sweep the tee away

Can you explain why at setup the low point (sole/bounce of the iron) is at ground level but after ball strike (and for a divot to be taken) the low point is lower than ground level. Thanks.

I play on courses that you cant take a divit ( $35 senior rate) so you have to hit the ball first or the club bounces and hits the ball half way up, I envy the emaculate courses the pros play

I just can NEVER do this. Why? Well...it was my posture. I am a tall(ish) person and I tend to stand to straight up from the hips. Bendingm ore at the hips and almost feeling like my chest is pointed down more towards the ball..this change in posture made moving the low point SO much easier to accomplish..almost without "trying".
